About LBT

Under the leadership of Executive Artistic Director Greg London, we are the region’s newest professional nonprofit theatre company and are thrilled to bring world class musicals and plays to the beautiful Grand Strand. Our programs include productions ranging from compelling dramas, powerful classics, new plays and full-scale musicals!  As a part of our commitment to the Myrtle Beach community, we are offering educational programs, classes, workshops and private coaching with top industry professionals. We actively seek out ways to reach the under-served members of our community.

We are currently creating large-scale fundraising efforts to help assure our success and create a permanent home in which we celebrate our community, our artists, and our art form for many years to come.

History

Originally founded in 2008, Long Bay Theatre first began to produce at Myrtle Beach’s famed Palace Theatre which was destroyed by hurricane Matthew in 2016.  In 2019, LBT founding Executive Artistic Director Greg London and Managing Director Vickie Carter began the rebuilding process and obtained 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable organization status. The hope was to begin with workshops for local area students and professional actors to work with great artists of our industry and slowly move to producing plays and musicals.

In 2020, due to the devastating effects Covid-19 pandemic, all theatres closed and our dreams of producing a summer and fall season ended...or so we thought. Despite Covid-19's tremendous impact on the theatre community, LBT decided to produce a socially distanced outdoor production of GODSPELL at Broadway at the Beach in the Fall of 2020.

Mission Statement

The mission of Long Bay Theatre is to ignite positive change in the cultural, social, and economic vitality of the Myrtle Beach community by producing world-class plays and musicals that entertain, challenge, and inspire audiences of all ages. Through the unsurpassed quality, range and diversity of its productions and educational programs, LBT strives to become a preeminent professional theatre in the Southeast. We are strongly committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in every aspect of our work both on and off the stage.
