History

Originally founded in 2008, Long Bay Theatre first began to produce at Myrtle Beach’s famed Palace Theatre which was destroyed by hurricane Matthew in 2016.  In 2019, LBT founder and Executive Artistic Director Greg London and Managing Director Vickie Carter began the rebuilding process and obtained 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable organization status. The hope was to begin with workshops for local area students and professional actors to work with great artists of our industry and slowly move to producing plays and musicals.

In 2020, due to the devasting effects Covid-1 pandemic, all theatres closed. All dreams of producing a summer and fall season ended. With exceeding optimism, LBT plans to produce a Broadway musical outdoors in the Spring of 2021. We are currently creating large-scale fundraising efforts to help assure our success and create a permanent home in which we celebrate our community, our artists, and our art form for many years to come.
